God is What Love Is

Today, Bishop Rodgers teaches from 1st John 4:7-8 on the topic on "God is What Love is." Love is an aspect of the fruit of the spirit and also evidence of our new birth. There are three reasons we are to demonstrate love: (1) Love is the nature of God; (2) Because God loved us, we have experienced love; and (3) if we continue to love one another, love is perfected in us. Our fellowship with God is demonstrated and attained when Christians love each other. Since God is love, an absence of love in your life reveals an absence of fellowship with God. God does not hate people, He hates sin. God is love, but love does not define God. Love is a valid test of true Christian faith. Since God is love, and we have claimed a personal relationship with God, we must reveal His love in how we live.
