In this post, we'll delve into the historical roots of these divisions, discuss personal experiences that highlight the ongoing challenges, and explore actionable steps we can take to foster understanding and unity. The historical backdrop of America's divided culture is complex, tracing back to events like the Civil War. During that time, individuals across racial lines fought for freedom, yet the scars of those conflicts still linger today. In my own experience traveling from Rocky Mount to Greenville, North Carolina, I've witnessed firsthand the disparities in community health services and social interactions. In my travels, I've encountered a variety of attitudes and behaviors that reflect the divided nature of our society. For instance, during a visit to a local medical facility in Rocky Mount, I was astounded to find a lack of basic healthcare tools. This experience opened my eyes to how disparities in healthcare can affect community trust and cohesion. As I reflect on my educational journey, particularly at Cairn University, (a Christian University, in Langhorne, PA. I recognize the importance of education in addressing systemic racism and cultural misunderstandings. A course on racism revealed not only the historical context but also the personal stories of Veterans like myself who face discrimination.
