God Our Sanctuary
from Assurance on SermonAudio Hosted by Ron Frasco
This sermon explores Psalm 46 as a divine invitation for believers to retreat to God as their ultimate sanctuary, contrasting the impermanence of human-made forts with the eternal security found in Christ. The message presents three distinct encouragements derived from the psalm's structure: God is an unassailable means of security who provides present help in trouble, an unbounded source of grace that sustains His people like a river, and an inexhaustible history of faithfulness demonstrated through His works in history. By referencing the Assyrian siege of Judah and Martin Luther's reliance on this psalm during the Reformation, the exposition highlights God's sovereignty over earthly powers and His ability to silence the uproar of nations. The tone is pastoral and comforting, urging the audience to overcome irrational fear and anxiety by trusting in the steadfast character of the Lord. Ultimately, the sermon concludes that these assurances are fully realized only through Jesus Christ, who offers eternal security, abundant grace, and the completion of God's redemptive plan.
