God the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth | Psalm 104 - Clint Leavitt
from Midtown Presbyterian Church · host Midtown Presbyterian Church
What exactly do Christians believe? There are so many different denominations and non-denominational churches around the world. Churches split because they disagree about all kinds of things. Is there any place that we can go to find out the essentials of the Christian faith? Any place we can go to discover what all Christians believe? Yes. The Apostles Creed is one of those places. The word “creed” comes from the Latin “credo” which means “I believe;” this is one of the earliest unified statements of faith in the Christian world, likely dating back to the 2nd century. Along with the Nicene Creed, The Apostles’ Creed is undoubtedly the most used, most familiar and most authoritative creed of Christianity. It has defined what it means to be a Christian for centuries and across languages and cultures. This is the single most fundamental expression of the Christian faith. Every week, we will be looking at the phrases in this creed and exploring what it means to say “I believe…” as a Christian, and how this actually changes our lives. Listen as Pastor Clint unpacks the foundational claim of all Christians, that God is a Father and Almighty, and what His infinite and intimate nature means for Christians -- in science, in prayer, and in life. Sermon Resources: 1. “God has, in fact, written two books, not just one. Of course, we are all familiar with the first book he wrote, namely Scripture. But he has written a second book called creation.” -Francis Bacon, "Advancement of Learning" 2. ”let no person … think or maintain that they can search too far or be too well studied in the book of God’s word, or in the book of God’s works; but rather let men endeavor an endless progress or proficiency in both.” -Charles Darwin quoting Francis Bacon in "The Origin of Species" 3. "The remarkable fact is that the values of these numbers seem to have been very finely adjusted to make possible the development of life.” -Steven Hawking Join or follow us below: Facebook: www.facebook.com/thespringmid...
