God Wants Your First: Firstfruits in a Year of Harvest
from Sermons at the Shed · host Eythan Tibbs
The biblical principle of first fruits extends far beyond financial giving to encompass every area of our lives. From the very beginning, when Abel brought the firstlings of his flock while Cain offered an afterthought, God has consistently asked for the first and best of what we have. This includes the first fruits of our time, energy, talents, and attention, not just our money.Giving first fruits requires tremendous faith because it means trusting God to provide for everything else after we've given Him the first portion. This can be challenging when our calculations don't seem to add up, but it demonstrates that God is our ultimate source, not our job or abilities. The practice actively dethrones three major idols that often rule our hearts: the king of appetite (through practices like fasting), the king of busyness (by prioritizing time with God), and the king of mammon (by trusting God over financial security). When we give God our first fruits, we're acknowledging that everything we have comes from Him and belongs to Him. This isn't about earning God's favor but about aligning our hearts with His priorities and demonstrating trust in His provision. By putting God first in practical ways - whether through morning prayer, financial giving, or using our best energy for His kingdom - we position ourselves to receive the abundant harvest He has planned for our lives.🌐 Websitehttps://theshed.church📘 Facebook / theshedatprovence 📷 Instagram / theshed.church 🎵 TikTok / theshed.church 📺 YouTube / @theshedatprovence
