God With Us: Early Letters, Week 25 The Supremacy of Christ One of Paul’s most important letters was addressed to the church in a small, out-of-the-way place called Colossae. Why? Because teachers there were presenting a false view of Christianity. Instead of the centerpiece of salvation, Jesus was being presented simply as ‘a piece’ of the religious puzzle: a high-ranking angel, a mediator of some sort, a bestower of secret knowledge, or a prophet. Paul combated these heresies by reinforcing that Christ was God, the Creator, the One and only Redeemer, and the only way of salvation.
