God With Us: Jesus, Week 8: Miracle-Worker! The Miracles of Jesus Jesus exercised power over nature, over disease, over demons, and over death. The small sampling of miracles in the four gospels are there for a single purpose that John clearly announced at the end of his narrative: “Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name” (John 20:30,31).
