God Works On Us Before He Moves Us - General Preaching

from Emmanuel Baptist Church of Jacksonville - Sermons · host Chad Hayes

We often pray for God to change our circumstances, but what if He is using our circumstances to change us? In Exodus 14, the children of Israel found themselves trapped in a terrifying cul-de-sac: the roaring Red Sea in front of them, impassable mountains beside them, and Pharaoh’s vengeful army charging from behind. To the human eye, it looked like total abandonment. But in reality, they were exactly where God wanted them. God hadn't trapped them; He had positioned them for His glory. This powerful message exposes a profound truth: God may be doing a great work in you before He does a great work through you. When crisis struck the camp of Israel, it didn't create panic—it merely exposed the fear, unbelief, and hidden bondage already lurking in their hearts. Confronted by the unknown, they turned on Moses and wept for the predictable comfort of their chains. Like Israel, we often mistake God's preparation for His absence, preferring familiar slavery over the unfamiliar journey to freedom. But God is not transactional; He is transformational. He intentionally allows the heat of trials to bring our hidden insecurities to the surface—not to condemn us, but to heal and work on us. Faith and fear cannot rule in the same heart. Before God commands us to move forward, He first teaches us to "stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord." Join us as we learn how to surrender what the crisis reveals, trust the orchestration of the Father, and realize that the wilderness isn't a sign of rejection—it's God's workshop.
