God's Covenant

The Ten Commandments were given as an expression of God's love, not as restrictive rules. God established His loving relationship with Israel before giving the law, demonstrating that rules without relationship lead to rebellion. The first commandment reveals that God desires to be central in our lives, not just ranked first among many priorities. This centrality stems from His confidence in providing for our needs and His desire to be involved in every aspect of our lives.
