Physical Barriers Difficult Weather • Winds were against us (4) • Sailed slowly (7) • Wind did not allow us to go farther (7) • Tempestuous wind (14) • Neither sun nor stars (19) Difficult Weariness • Violently storm-tossed (18) • All hope of our being saved was abandoned (20) • Without food (21) • Fourteenth night (27) 2. Spiritual Realities Demonic Opposition Divine Encouragement 3. Unstoppable Grace Life Preservation Luke 12:7 - Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows. (ESV) Spiritual Strength Provision Conclusion: God’s purpose will stand Psalm 138:8 [8] The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O LORD, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands. (ESV) God moves in a mysterious way, his wonders to perform; he plants his footsteps in the sea, and rides upon the storm. Deep in unfathomable mines, of never-failing skill; he fashions up his bright designs, and works his sovereign will. Ye fearful saints fresh courage take, the clouds that you much dread, are big with mercy and will break in blessings on your head. Judge not the Lord by feeble sense, but trust him for his grace; behind a frowning providence, he hides a smiling face. His purposes will ripen fast, unfolding every hour; the bud may have a bitter taste, but sweet will be the flower. Blind unbelief is sure to err, and scan his work in vain; God is his own interpreter, and he will make it plain. William Cowper
