Sound Gospel doctrine counsels the church.  Sound Gospel doctrine protects the church.   Sound Doctrine Must Be Modeled Faithfully By Older Men (2:2). God calls older men to be Christ-focused. God calls older men to be worthy of respect. God calls older men to be disciplined in thought and deed. God calls older men to be strong in faith, love, and perseverance.   Sound Doctrine Must Be Modeled Faithfully By Older Women (2:3). God calls older women to be reverent in behavior. God calls older women to guard their speech. God calls older women to guard their appetites.  God call older women to life-on-life discipleship.
