Going Full Circle with Gary Allen

from OYNB Podcast · host OYNB

In this episode, Jen and Ruari discuss Gary's relationship with alcohol, how he started to discover it, and eventually how he got addicted. Born in 1972 in the West of Ireland into a farming background. Gary has 2 younger brothers. Things were sometimes a little tricky growing up because he was born with Spina Bifida which meant relatively frequent trips to the hospital, lots of rehabs, missed school etc. There were no “special” facilities in those days. Upon finishing school he did a degree in computer science in Dublin. In the late 90s, he met his wife and they moved to Galway in 2000 where they still live with their 5 dogs. Gary shares what his life was like before he got into the vice and how his experiences, environment, and relationships influenced him to start drinking. You will hear what Gary has to say about OYNB and how that together with personal development changed his relationship with alcohol. How OYNB changed his life. Now, everyone knows and accepts Gary as someone who doesn’t drink and he has not lost a single relationship by becoming alcohol-free but instead gained so much authenticity towards his relationships.
