Going to the Army - Episode 26 (May 2016)

"Going to the Army!" is a podcast series featuring Salvation Army music. This 26th Episode is for May 2016 and continues the return of the "Going to the Army!" ministry, now in its 3rd season.  This episode features Salvation Army bands, singers and soloists from around the world - with a special feature on a good friend of mine, Dr Clarence Adoo MBE - a Salvationist musician whose professional career as a trumpet player in leading orcheatras was tragicaly cut short by a terrible car accident that left him paralysed from the neck down. Despite this he has continued his career in music - not just in administration but as a performer and conductor - as we shall hear in his inspiring interview in the podcast.As well as hearing a recording of Clarence playing we hear the International Staff Band in a special recording performing a march with Clarence conducting - and we have 2 excerpts from a BRAND NEW CD recording issued to help raise funds for him recorded by The Fairey Band, one of the leading contesting bands in the world, and conducted by John Ward that features the music of Col. Robert Redhead. The Episodes and 'specials' have been listened to or downloaded HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of times in all continents and more than 50 countries throughout the world - and has been played to even more by listeners who share them with family, church shut-ins and other friends who do not have access to the internet. This new podcast continues the ever-growing ministry of GttA around the world and features both new songs and pieces and others that have been well-loved and very well-blessed for many years throughout the Salvation Army World.
