Gold Holds as the Dollar Folds — Bizarro World 374
from Bizarro World
The free version of Episode 374 of Investing in Bizarro World is now live. This week, Nick and Gerardo break down Kevin Warsh’s first major Fed decision, the mixed reaction across the bond market, and why the dollar’s drop below 100 may finally be giving gold the macro relief it needed. The 30-year Treasury yield reached its highest level since 2007, but the 2-year and 10-year began cooling after the Fed held rates steady. Gold held the $3,900–$4,000 area, pushed back above $4,100, and appears to be breaking free from its usual inverse relationships with both the dollar and Treasury yields. Nick says the correlations have moved toward zero, suggesting gold may once again be trading as an independent hedge rather than simply reacting to every move in rates and currencies. Silver remains caught between support around $55–$56 and resistance near $60, while copper continues to look strongest. The broader market is rotating as well. South Korea’s KOSPI has fallen sharply, technology and consumer-discretionary stocks have weakened, and capital is moving toward energy, financials, consumer staples, health care, gold, and other defensive areas. Uranium remains quiet near $85 spot and $95 long term, but Nick and Gerardo believe the third- and fourth-quarter contracting cycle could quickly wake up the sector. Then things get fully Bizarro: Fauci pleads the Fifth, COVID accountability becomes another partisan dog-and-pony show, Flock cameras are abused for personal surveillance, Iran casualties are reclassified around technical ceasefires, the Epstein files remain missing, and both parties continue using pardons and political connections to protect their own.
