Goldfinch Chapters 40-50

Two friends eating and drinking their way through Goldfinch–Book 6 of the Plated Prisoner series by Raven Kennedy! SPOILERS FOR THE SERIESRecipes for food and cocktails mentioned in this episode:Savory Apple Brunch Bake-Bisquick Ingredients:1 lb bacon2 apples, chopped (I used a pink lady and a granny smith)2 tbsp sugar1 tsp (or whatever your heart tells you) cinnamon or apple pie spice1 ½ cups bisquick1 ½ cups milk4 (yes 4) eggs2 cups shredded cheese, I use cheddar Instructions:Step 1Heat oven to 375°F. Grease rectangular baking dish, 11X7. Cook bacon in 12-inch skillet over medium heat, turning occasionally, until crisp; drain on paper towels and cool.Crumble bacon into small pieces.Step 2Mix apple, cinnamon and sugar; spread in a baking dish. Stir the Bisquick, milk and eggs until blended; pour over the apple. Sprinkle it with bacon and cheese.Step 3Bake uncovered 30 to 35 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.  Wine/Cocktail Pairing: Black CloudSo tonight, I brought Black Cloud. This wine is dark, moody, and just a little spicy — kind of like Slade when someone threatens Auren.
