Gonsolin Near Return, Royals Watch Closely | Kansas City Royals News

Tony Gonsolin’s rehab is heating up—five scoreless innings, three hits, two strikeouts in his latest outing with Triple-A Omaha. The Royals are eyeing a potential major league return before the season ends, with another start scheduled for Sunday. Manager Matt Quatraro says the team will decide after that whether to continue rehab or plug him into the rotation. Signed in August after elbow surgery, Gonsolin was an All-Star in 2022 and boasts a 3.34 career ERA. With the Royals’ rotation battered by injuries, his health could be crucial—and there’s a club option for 2027 if he stays on track. Meanwhile, James McArthur, Maikel Garcia, and Connor Seabold also begin their own rehab assignments, with McArthur returning from multiple elbow surgeries and Garcia recovering from a hamstring strain.
