A covenant is a binding, God-pledged commitment rooted in love, mercy, and grace. Covenant love is always only Jesus. Marriage is designed and defined by God–it’s sacrificial, submitted, and only separated by death. The covenant of marriage should be a reflection of Christ’s love for the church. God’s covenant also demands a response. We are not perfect, and when we mess up, Jesus has already taken our place on the cross. If we desire godly dating and marriage, we must first have a solid understanding of Christ’s example of covenant love.
