Good for Business - Episode 29 - Michael Talley Join host Colin Krieger on the Good for Business podcast as he sits down with Michael Talley, owner of Talley Fence Company and a true craftsman rooted in the Columbus, Mississippi community. In this episode, Michael shares his unexpected path to entrepreneurship — from his early days as a Memphis busboy and apartment maintenance worker to becoming one of the region’s most trusted fence and deck builders (and Colin’s go-to guy for every project). Michael opens up about the hands-on realities of running a small business, the lessons he learned on the job, and why word-of-mouth is his best advertisement. The conversation takes a high-octane turn into Michael’s lifelong passion for drag racing — complete with stories of family race cars, pit crew adventures, and the thrill (and expense) of going ever faster. The episode also explores Michael’s family life, including his wife Kelly’s career as an art teacher and talented painter, and their son Graham’s budding skills as a drummer. Michael shares how creativity, persistence, and community shape both his personal and professional worlds. Plus, don’t miss Michael’s favorite true crime and fantasy football podcasts and his candid insights into running an honest, fair business. Whether you’re a DIY enthusiast, a small business owner, or just love a good story about speed and success, this episode has something for you!
