GOOD FRIDAY APRIL 10TH 2020 - Ken Collyer
from Ulverstone Baptist Church · host Ulverstone Baptist Church
In this Easter message, Ken highlights what this Easter season means to us as believers. What is deemed as the most important & significant time for Christians in the year. Gathering together to focus on the significance of the good news & what we believe & celebrate most about God. It is a very different Easter. To be outside of a close physical gathering at Easter for the first time in our lives. But we have what is here – God’s word & presence & the good news of Jesus. In the passage of Mark 15:21-451, I want to highlight two things: - The cry of Jesus - The isolation of Jesus The whole gospel does not bypass the situation of Jesus – the cry & the isolation - but it announces the good news that comes out of the cry & isolation of Jesus. It announces who Jesus is & who we are. It is called Good Friday for that reason. To finish, with a comment I read: ‘Mark’s gospel invites us to re-frame our worship and rethink the good news.’ One day in the Roman Empire the good news of Jesus was announced in a time of panic & fear. That’s where we come to see that good news breaking through for ourselves & our friends today in Ulverstone & beyond. God bless,
