Good Grief - Pastor Chris Cope

from Keystone North Church

In Acts 12, we see King Herod strike the early church with violence—James is killed, and Peter is thrown into prison. But the story doesn’t end there. BUT God… BUT earnest prayer… Just like Peter, asleep in his chains, and Paul, writing words of hope from a prison cell (Philippians 4:12–13), we’re reminded that true strength isn’t the absence of trials—it’s trusting God through them. Romans 12:12 calls us to "Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer." Peter didn’t force his way out—he listened for the knock and walked through the door God opened. Let’s pray together for the Lord to reframe our thinking, trust in the One who bore our shame and grief, and find strength not in escape, but in God’s faithful deliverance.
