TRANSCRIPT · AUTO-GENERATED

Hello, welcome back to another episode of opinioneering. I am very excited to be back today. We have a lot of new stuff to talk about. A lot of recent events.

I'm here with Jason. I just already had one head and said that because he hates saying his own name. So I just want to know is that it's me and Jason here. Colton's not available.

He texted us this morning saying he had a really bad headache. So we kind of just said, dude, you're good. Don't worry about it. And since he has to do a long drive, we'll catch up with him sometime next week.

And he'll probably have a couple of things to mention about, you know, some of these topics. But today we're just gonna be us here talking. So first, how was your week? Jake, how's your weekend?

Well, all I know is heat. Right? So the California is garbage. Yeah, it's just been the most exhausting.

I just walk outside for any number of minutes. And I just want to. Yeah. Yeah.

Yeah. So I'm like so over summer. It's really funny because in our little hometown here, there's a certain intersection where every year, a pumpkin lot, pumpkin patch gets put up. Right.

Right across from Costco. Yeah, right across from Costco. And it turns into a Christmas tree lot once, you know, pumpkin season is over. And I saw that they're already putting it up, right?

And all I could think of is like, I'm longing for the weather. But at the same time, it just felt like incomprehensible. Like are you a pumpkin spice kind of guy? No.

I'm thinking as long as you're not that. No. Not to say whoever does like that is wrong. No, I think I'm sure it could be good if done right?

Because I like pumpkin. And I like spice. But just in general, I'm not a fan of drinks or stuff that's like you could tell it's artificially flavored really obviously, you know? Yeah.

Versus if it just had like pumpkin ingredient. What about pumpkin extract? Is that still too little bit big? Because I take some of the enzymes from the pumpkin and the manufacturer on a larger scale.

Yeah. I'm sure that could be done right. In today's technology, we can put a man on the moon. Right.

But we can't get a good pumpkin like, well, you can't but it's all artificial. But yeah, no, it's been freaking hot. I can't stand it. Like I go outside, I just got on taking a shower and I go outside and it's just unbearable.

The only good thing about our type of heat is that for the most part, here in the past couple of years, it's kind of changed. It's been dried. Yeah, that's true. But yesterday, you know, I mean, you do level get up to like 40, 40%.

My phone cooler ain't cutting it. My players like screw that. No way, I'm done. I don't want this.

No, no, no. So like my wife's cooking dinner and I was like, look at this. They're wrong. They're like 85 degrees.

We got the 85 in the kitchen area. Turn on the air. Could you say? So we just got into a house.

My family and I. So we're really excited about that. And so we're recording it. And in our terms, there's a little office area.

So we're really excited about that. Because for years, if you've been following us, which thank you for following us. Because we put up a new episode and we got like within like, I think it was 48 hours. We got like 70 downloads.

I was pretty excited about that. That's encouraging. We are ranking. I told you that we are charted.

The number, I said 88. I think you said 88. 88, right. 88 in Sweden.

So I know how to sweet it. So our Swedes out there. I was going to say, don't go. I don't know why.

That's a horrible geography. I know that's German. But yeah, so thank you all for joining us. This is how our week has been just very hot, very unbearable.

We're going to talk about things that happened in D23. And all these now's this week. A lot of things happened in the nerd culture world. But before I get into that, I just want to say thank you all again for my back and listening.

And also, if this is your first time listening to our podcast, welcome. We are opinioners. We're opinioneering. But we're chasing dubbed as the opinioners.

Kind of like Mouseketeers. And that makes you the opinionation. Oh, dang. How long you been sitting on that?

I haven't seen it on that one for a second. So you're the opinionation. And yeah, oh gosh, that kind of just the thing for a second. So we're the opinioners.

We are part of the Little Felimidia podcast network. If you look at other shows, mostly that deal in the nerd culture realm. Look up other shows like Gamer Head Podcast, Cake Bytes, The Well Red Mage. We're going to have some trailer, small promo audio clips throughout this episode.

And at the end, so you can go check them out. But all of them having to deal mostly with video games. Jason and I have a really cool announcement to all the followers that have been around for since the beginning. And it's really fun.

So we have an announcement of a new podcast that we're going to be launching here really soon. We've practically done for like three weeks. But we just keep wanting to up the ante in quality and production. So we're really excited to let everyone know about this new project that we've been doing.

That's also the reason why we've kind of put off recording, opinioneering. So let's get right into the episode and talk about what is happening in the nerd culture world. So Jay, what was the first thing on the dock today that we're talking about? Hopefully people don't have a fatigue over this topic yet, but it just feels too big to not mention the whole custody battle for poor little teenage Peter Parker.

I wonder if like the Supreme Court's going to come down, be like, who do you want to go to? You choose. You choose. And it's going to come down to a vote from Toby McGuire, Andrew Garfield, Tom Holland, those were.

Oh, and Nick Miller can be in that vote as well. And so can the guy who played Miles. What was his name? Oh, what was his name?

Yeah. People who have played Spider-Man. Yeah. They get the votes.

Who do you want to go to? Oh, that's funny. And like if we're going to keep going with like adding personification of this, like I feel like I feel like Sony in this is that like would become if you know, Sony's gets custody is like to over works like single mom who's like, I'm just trying to make a good life for you. He's like, man, I hate it.

Your mom. Or has Disney's like the fun dad who's like, I'm asking for breakfast every day with me. Yeah. Yeah.

Or even the reverse of that. Because you can also go the other way of like Sony is the mom, the nurturing mom, the mom that's like, I will, I will do the best for my kid. I will, I will go above and beyond. I will, because Disney for go, for God, for go, for gone for whatever the, the, the money income from Marvel for the single movies or the other ones they didn't, they raked into the profits from it.

Now from far from home and homecoming, I heard that they didn't take a dime off the profits of the film. Now for merchandise, they did t-shirts, hats, toys, stuff like that. They did take money from that. The other part about this is the dad that's like, no, you're coming home with me.

And I was like, no, I just want to keep him like, no, I don't think so. You can go either way when it comes to that. But this is like super, super sad. Yeah.

It's super sad because I mean, if you guys listened to our Spiderman episode a couple weeks ago, it was common consensus that it was, but ass like it was freaking amazing. Yeah. I loved it. I loved every part of it.

And it's sad. But a lot of people are giving hate to Sony. Like a lot of people are giving, you know, shade, shade to Sony. I'm not letting it go.

But you can't be so mad at Sony for, okay. Sony is kind of like that significant other that tries so hard but keeps messing up and not in horrible ways and just in ways like, dude, you're just not getting it. And I'm coming back like, just give me another chance. Just give me another chance.

And the first boyfriend was pretty good in Sam Raimi. You know, like the first being the other, the first significant other were pretty good with you, you know, but then the audience, then you were on your third date and you're like, no, not really. There's too many other people in here. You know, you get too many other friends in Vietnam and Hobgoblin and Sam and all this kind of crap, right?

And then you get the hippie in Mark Webb. The guy who's like, oh, okay, cool. Yes. You think you want Mark Webb.

And he's just a hippie underneath under a tree that doesn't take showers. That's how I'm looking at it. And then Tom Holland's like the boy next to. Yeah.

I mean, it's really hard. I'm like so torn over the whole entire thing because on the one hand, on the one hand, I truly and from the bottom of my heart, don't believe that anyone mega corporation should have this much creative control over this many properties and they can literally steer like the entire culture and squash out everything. That's, you know what I mean? Yeah, yeah.

I talked about it. You weren't there. It was me, Caleb Schopner and Colton two years ago. It was when right when they bought box when it was coming through two years ago.

This coming up Christmas, when it was the same exact night that we recorded the episode for the last Jedi. And we talked about that. And it's scary how much how much power Disney has. Yeah, that's like a complete failure of capitalism right there.

Like, hey, man. Hey, it's Ranger. I'm in a drink and I'll tell you a secret. Like you.

Now about that secret. If it's video game and video game music discussion you're after, seek out the little fellow media network at bus route.com. Legend has a podcast there posted by a skeleton known as the ABXY page from the well red mage.com. Go see for yourself.

It's called side quests. And it's about video games and video game music. And if you are leaving now, pick me with you. So I don't.

So I don't think that they should have so much control. Then here's the other part. Here's the conflicted side of me that a few years ago before Tom Holland was on the screen, I was so burnt out of Peter Parker, the character, and was ready for like a fresh new take on with Miles, which, hey, into the Spider-Verse, everyone knows we. Right.

That's one of the top I wanted to come back to. Yeah, like I'm raved about how amazing it was. But at the time, you know, there was still like a just a bad taste in my mouth over how Peter Parker has been rebooted and rebooted and how I just felt exhausted. And then even though it's under the Disney, you know, banner, they still gave us something that I never saw coming and I fell in love with and my kids fell in love with.

And like it's so exciting to be at a point where it's like over the summer, it was like our whole family was looking forward to like going together a to get out of this key. But be as a family, and we can all go see far from home and all enjoy it together. Like that was cool. Yeah.

I just love what they did with it. And I can and so now that's where the conflicts comes with like, I don't think Disney should have this much creative control. But in the end, I love what they did. And my fear is that you go back to dad with sugar.

It's gonna go back to yeah, because even though Spider-Verse was absolutely incredible, I fear that they want to bring Spider-Man back so they could have him in their venom films and their more be as film. Yeah. Yeah, like I just feel like they're gonna just taints the goodness that's been all the good will that we've had. They're gonna just muck it up.

So not an entorn in sucks. Yeah, it really sucks. So I mean, there's something to say about if into the Spider-Verse didn't exist, you know, like even more hesitation. Okay, it's sad that he's going away because they left us with a huge cliffhanger at the end of the movie.

Okay, when Peter, when his identity was, was really quote unquote released. And then we started to see finally a good modern telling of Peter and MJ. And the fact of like, okay, back in the day when AI first saw the way we went, okay, Kirsten Dunce, okay, it was good for the time. Andrew Garfield and there was no MJ in that one, right?

It was one. It was a MSN. So we haven't had a really good one for today's generation or for the modern time generation because MJ wasn't in the Mark Web one. In this one, they do.

It's a good modern take of MJ. It's really great. And so they just started finally coming around to their romantic side of their relationship, which is good because how many times did we, and I think for as much as I love the show Friends, Friends has a lot to do with this and cheers between freaking Ross and Rachel, or they are, aren't they kind of a thing where you don't see them actually get together to like seasons in, you know, see like long salmon, Diane, that was the cheer, that was the cheers. Well, Simon, Diane, you know, they elongated this relationship, but this by the second movie, they're practically together, right?

The first one was mostly just coming to Peter and introducing things. This was like, no, like they're together and you saw that relationship awesome. So that was a really cool thing. I liked on this one as well.

They didn't have to bring in Harry. Harry's nowhere to be found in this, which I do like Harry Osborn as a character, but he's not necessarily, he's not a necessity. Yeah. And these new ones just proved that and they brought in Ned.

I like Ned. That's funny, Ned's great. He's not an ex-executed Ned. He does a really good job.

So Disney did a really good thing in reinventing it for today's generation. The, you know, my little qualms with it. You can go back to our far from home episode. Oh, no, not our far from home.

Homecoming episode. My one thing that these guys got on before, but it doesn't matter. They're still amazing. And then now we bring it to today where we're not going to have anything enough to know both.

So we look in the bigger picture, even the MCU, everyone thought that the next Iron Man was Peter. Like he's the next leader of the Avengers, right? Yeah. And now he's not like, I mean, he's not looking like he's going to be, which in trying to look towards the future, I think it's going to be in Siri to Challa's little sister.

I think that they can make her Ironheart. So in the comic books, you know, Tony Stark, I think he dies or he retires or something and he passes it on to some name, Ruby Williams, R E R E Williams, Ruby Williams. And she becomes not Iron Man. She was Ironheart.

So I think that they'll kind of do a play on that. And in the comics, Ruby Williams is an African American as well. Well, Siri's not African American. She's pure.

She's a pure straight from the other line. So I think that they can go in that direction, but it's sad because there's so many twists and turns happening, especially with a spidey thing because in the beginning of the MCU, Tony was the crux. He was he was it and Spidey now should be the it, you know, Thor is off with with with the guardians. Cap is screwing up some other timelines somewhere.

Um, dude, I got I got to think about that. So you know, Agent 13, the one from Winter Soldier. Okay. That's Peggy's grand grand, uh, grand dog, great grand dog.

Oh, right. Right. So in that universe, he just stopped Peggy from existing. Okay.

I don't know if this is true, but I had read in one of the five bajillion, you know, takes that came out after the movie, but I guess in the Agent Carter TV show, they never revealed who was her. So he was dating his own granddaughter? No, no, no, no. There's a TV show that Marvel came out with of, oh, right.

That'd be more weird. Yeah, exactly. Oh, yeah. Well, not dating.

He had the hotspot. He's kind of like one of those back of the future things, but mom didn't know that. Right. He was like, Hey, how's it going?

Right. But since this is, no, because in the time we're kind of, you know, mixing and we'll jump back to the, in the time travel as a form in regards to quantum mechanics, it's not the back to the future where you go back in time, you start a whole new timeline. So in that timeline that they started a new Peggy will never exist. So that's why a lot of people like, dude, Cap just like literally messed up like at least my people's lives.

And I get it and people are like, dude, you know, he sacrificed his life and you know, he gets some happiness. I get it. And this is not an argument for that. But going back, Spidey is the crux.

Go ahead. Go ahead. I don't want to catch you off. We could go on and on about about Infinity War and game and just I was going to throw in there really quick out on the kind of other funny and funny.

Some, a lot of takes are like, hard, but they're very true of like, if you really think about, it made sense story wise why the heroes want the other heroes to return. But for the world at large, like, that's just messed up. Like spouses who have moved on remarried and five years later, like on back, like, there's so much, there's so many consequences. Yeah.

Like the earth just got used to going back to Thanos is an issue. Like the earth just got used to like barely eating by a food supply for half a population and now just got doubled and you got to feed twice as many people. And then like, there was, um, Invincible was a comic series by, uh, oh, yeah. I never read.

I never read. Yeah. Kirkman. And it was actually really cool.

Kirkman, it's now ended, but he, uh, for many years had the Invincible series starring Mark Grayson as Invincible. And as we get into, you know, the later half of the series, one of the things that we see is there's a scene where after, you know, there's been so much loss, so much heartache, but ultimately him and the character Eve end up having a child together named Tara. And we see that with Mark Grayson, there's a storyline where he like falls into this, um, I don't know, he goes in this cave or something and it takes them into like an alternate timeline where he's like back at issue one and he's, but he's got like the knowledge of the whole series up to date. So it was like a, here you can have a perfect chance, a new timeline with all the knowledge that you have of everything that ever went wrong.

And this is your chance to make it right. And ultimately instead of taking that chance with this new knowledge to perfect the timeline and make everything right, he knew there's a moment where it comes down to this scene where he essentially says, you know, even if I could make the entire universe perfect. And even if even I fell in love again and had a child, that child wouldn't be Tara and that child would be someone else. And like he realized, even though he's a hero and he is trying to help the greater good for everyone, his one moral imperative and responsibility above all of those is as a father and that can he sacrifice making writing past mistakes at the cost of his child's life.

Yeah. So Tony came to that. Right. And so that's where I just wish they would have dealt more with that with Tony was like, that seemed like such a afterthought that I wish that would have been more of a struggle.

It felt like he had more heartache over Peter than he did over the fact that like, hey, he's more than likely going to leave a daughter to grow up without a dad. Yeah. Yeah. My name is Katie Kakes and I am the host of Cake Bites, a podcast adventure through gaming history.

And I am just inviting you to come along with me on that journey while I interview people who have worked in and around the industry for the last 30 plus years to learn about their experiences and their perspectives to learn more about an industry that is continuously evolving. I hope you guys will join me every two weeks when I release a new episode of the show on all major podcasting platforms. You can learn more about the show at cakebites.com. Yeah, I don't know.

But again, these are just not quants, just things that, you know, we would have been liked it like delve a little bit more on this, but it wasn't. So that's why it's still good. Like we still give a thumbs up from the opinion years kind of thing, but of course, and if here's the thing is whenever I critique a movie, it's, did I like it or was I right down the middle? I didn't like it.

Why didn't I like it? Well, because if they gave me $350 million, what do I have made that? I if I read that story, I'd be like, yeah, but I would delve further into this. That doesn't mean that the story was that I would delve more into a certain, a certain thing.

Yeah. So like if he goes back in time, say like it's Tony or something, he goes back in time and there's a definitive moment that he has to stop people in the past. Maybe, maybe it's at the, at the fight from Avengers one and he does that. He sees the people that are about to die and he is left with a question, let these 50 people die right in front of him, but if he does, he could mess up a timeline, a timeline where his daughter doesn't exist.

Yeah. A time like period, not because they're like, oh, a timeline. Okay. Any timeline.

Would that happen? Would he do that in that wrestling? And maybe as he's flying away, you can hear like an explosion happening creep people screaming and like tears are like a tear is rolling down his face. Like God that fucking hurt.

You know, kind of a thing, something a little bit more in lines of that, but yeah, like after they went back in time, you didn't hear from the daughter, the point of view of Tony and the daughter until like the hologram, you know, you don't, you don't see it at all beforehand when he's like, no, I can't, because I can't risk this. Cool. But I go back in time and it's Peter, Peter, Peter, Peter, Peter, Peter, Peter, Peter, Peter, Peter, Peter, Peter, Peter, Peter. Right.

And it's not going back to the daughter, you know, kind of a thing. But all that being said, Peter should have been, you know, going down the line, I hope that Sony moves forward on a great foundation. You know, there are some people, there are some people out there that are good project managers, but they're horrible at starting a good project. Yeah.

You know, maybe Sony can be one of those people, maybe they can be someone that's like, Hey, we gave us the tools to make something great, but we just can't start it. You know, Disney is very good at starting something, but they're not good in my opinion in continuing something. They started the MC, they had an overall goal and they've done very well. Okay.

My impression on Star Wars, they didn't start it. They continued the story. And when they continue the story, it's not as in my opinion, it's not as good as before. They have good attributes.

They have good aspects of it, like the good aspects that you talk about in Last Jedi. Great aspects that I thought that they could have dealt with even more and amazing parts. But it just didn't fall suit to the, it didn't make sense. Right.

Which I'm totally cool with, but I think hopefully Sony can be one of those people. So I mean, I was talking about this with you, you know, a couple of days ago that there's a good possibility. Okay. With this Morbius film that's coming out with a good old Jared Leto.

Dude, this guy cannot, like, what is his problem? Like, what is his problem? Like, oh, dude, like me as a Joker. Joaquin Phoenix, I saw the second trailer this morning.

He's doing a better job in the trailer. Jared Leto did it in two, two? Was he in two? It was in suicide squad and then I think he had a small part in someplace else.

Yeah, I didn't watch any of those. I gave up. Yeah. No, dude, like, have you seen the new trailer for Joker?

I haven't seen it yet. The new one? I'm not going to lie. It's peeped my interest a little bit.

Yeah, yeah. Maybe we'll get into that. But maybe some of these people that can carry on. Yeah, I mean, hopefully, hopefully so.

You know, I mean, you look at, you look at Spider-Verse. It was amazing. They obviously had enough sense to see something good. And, you know, I'm hopeful.

Because obviously, you don't want to be the person who's like, it's going to suck. Because when you see something you like and you really enjoy it, you want it to succeed. You don't want it to fail. Right, exactly.

I don't want BVS to be another piece of shit. So check this out. The writers, the main writer for Into the Spider-Verse. You know what it was.

Wasn't it Phil? Phil Lord. Yeah. Phil Lord, if Sony hires him again for continuing when they take on, when they take on the Spider-Man universe, I would feel even more at peace and more confident.

Here's the reason why. Phil Lord can understand a character. You know what else Phil Lord has written? Um, Lego.

Lego movie. Lego movie. I just read that he was also on Lego Batman. Okay.

So the directors were those two pairs. The guys who were supposed to do the Nighting movie. Phil Lord helped out with the right of it. He understands characters, right?

Batman? You talk to any truth. I'm not going to say true. Any devout Batman fan.

And they will tell you Lego Batman was probably one of the greatest Batman edition of all time. Right. It is amazing. It is amazing on how they.

Because a devout Batman fan can watch that movie and be like, oh my God, I know they're making fun, but that's totally gross. Yeah. Like to the up-teeth degree. And that's even dick.

Or even Alfred. Right. Like it's you can only make those kind of jokes because there's like a deep, deep love and understanding of the characters you're poking fun at. Right.

So the huge D&D podcast, I mean, you both love the adventures on. You just finished it. Okay. Whoever's listening to this, click on this and that's done.

You get the sample of opinion hearings approval. Um, when you're when you were listening to it, you had told me like, dude, these guys know deep culture references that you don't know. You don't know. But if you know, oh my gosh, that's that much amazing.

Yeah. And that's what Phil Lord can do because then he goes on to Spider-Man and he writes Spider-Man and he really got into not just Peter, later on Peter, he got into a very fresh Miles Morales. Miles has already been around for 10, 12 years. If that.

Yeah, probably. Yeah. So he's very fresh, but he took that and he's like, Hey, I can make something good with this. Even in the origins, right?

He can make something good with this. If Sony goes to Phil Lord and says, Hey, we want you to continue Spider-Man. You obviously already know him as a character. Are you pretty well?

Can you please continue this? Go into Venom because this is what we were talking about. Will Sony continue with Tom Holland? Mm-hmm.

And that's where I think I think that at this point, it just depends on what is he want out of his life because I've, you know, you've kind of seen some of his other big projects have kind of stalled out recently. Like, I know he was in. Great. Yeah.

And like that is in development hell. They just lost like their, is their sixth director. We're just real quick. One question just as a sidebar question.

Yeah. Would you rather it be lost in pre-production hell than them to butcher it? Oh, yeah. Okay.

Yeah. Same here. Yeah. Go back to the game.

So people are like, Oh, what's this meeting? You're fine. I'm like, you know, stars are going to shine. And then I heard that he had a movie with that's already been filmed with.

Brad. Who plays Ray? Like Ray Charles Jimin. No, no, no, no.

I'm sorry. Oh, he's really. Yeah. Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley filmed a movie together and like, I guess it's been deemed like unreleased by studios.

Like it's so crap that they're like, yeah, this isn't really a straight to video. Oh my God. And so at the moment, except for, you know, like some voiceover where he's in like two upcoming animated films outside of voiceover where he doesn't really have anything big on the horizon to keep his momentum going. Right.

And I would almost think he'd have to stick around and if he wants, if he just wants to continue to grow. Yeah. Well, I would say this, if he was about 10 years older, you know, and yes, he wouldn't be Spider-Man because you know, his age, whatever, but let's just consider this if he was 10 years older and he was more of a independent man. Okay.

Right now you're still seeing pictures of him and RDJ going on hikes together. Like they're still really close. So there's the heartstrings that pull at that. But if he was like an individual man, I'm not saying that he won't do this or he won't make this decision.

But when you're younger years, I remember when I was younger, the heartstrings pull a lot more harder than looking down the road, you know, if he was a little bit older, I think he would say like, yo, if I go with Sony and for them to sign me, I would want some stipulations in there stating this is what Spider-Man used to be. I've played him twice. That my word has a little bit of a liddity. I can break away from the Disney teat.

Right. Literally. And make a name for myself saying, was it really Disney who created him that was so awesome? Or was this Tom Mahal?

You know, kind of thing? There's that possibility as well. Yeah. And I mean, some of that's kind of fair.

Like, I like that Tom Holland and this as far as his career goes, it's like a plus N and minus, like, I guess he's not even though, yes, he's like, you know, been a Marvel superhero. He's not your traditional stud muffin in the. He's like, he's like, he's like boy, Ben cute. He's like, he's British cute.

He's British cute then. He's British cute. Wait, so you put him on bar with like, Lance, Lance? Well, I just mean, I just mean, he's not like your traditional chiseled action hero.

Kind of looks. He's more like a, he's just got this vulnerability about him and he's like more easy. Kind of like you just said earlier about like, kid next door kind of thing. Yeah.

Yeah. Totally. So to wrap up this one topic, we talked about some time. Yeah.

It's sad to see him depart from the MCU because I see you still want him to be a part of this larger picture, but I really want to see what comes next out of this spidey thing. Is there hope? Sony can do a good job, but they haven't really given us much the venom movie to me. Isn't that great?

You know, more of yes, they're going now. They're there. I'm afraid that they're going down the DC route of more of this dark bat creature. You know, that's me.

You know, Vampiric type of thing with Jared Leto, you know, kind of thing. And then with Venom, I love Tom, Tom Hardy, I think he acted his ass off in that movie and tried to make it good. The story was out of crap, but it had its good moments. Yeah.

I think ultimately I'm just not convinced. I'm not convinced that enough studios have learned their lesson that like, I'm not convinced that enough studios have learned their lesson that like it or not. Marvel owns the corner on cinematic universes. And I think that they're small, small exception to fast.

All right. The exception of fast and the theory is, but otherwise, you know, spider verse again, I'm not complaining. It was amazing. But already there's talks of like spin offs and sequels and making a universe out of it.

And then with Spider-Man, I feel like they're going to mine it like, okay, we got venom. We got more of you guys. Let's get a signature six go. Remember they were talking about like black cat.

Yeah. I just think that they need to bring Spider-Man back in the folds, but make him like your most radiant shining star center of the universe and not let's spread him out so he can give validity to all these other random characters. No one gives you shit. Right.

Which is a good shift over because they're talking about his Disney in their shows and something that we want to talk about. Some of the cool things that came out in D23 this past week. So D23 they launched that they launched, but they did they push a lot of material for their Disney plus. This is like them saying we want to take down Netflix.

This is like literally their, they're like battle cry. Exactly battle cry. This is their letter to the, to the, to the, to the enemy saying we're going to F up your city. You're going to go down.

Yeah. And I think Netflix has the chops to stand up to that. I really, really do. That's another topic.

One is the topic D23. So those are the cool shows that they announced, they announced a She-Hulk show. They announced a Miss Marvel show. Miss Marvel is the first Muslim comic book character, correct?

Because that green lantern came out. I don't know what to say if she's Muslim. I know she's like from Pakistan, but I don't know if she might be Muslim. I don't actually know.

Yeah. I do know the green lantern. Simon Bazz. He's, he's Muslim.

Like the first story arc with him in there. It was him, you know, going through a lot of, you know, not just racism, but you know, Muslim persecution, stuff like that here in America. Yeah. And then the comic books did a really good job in working.

If you're, I think Paul, he's a, he's an artist. I forgot what writer did it, but he was really, I really enjoyed it. So there's that one and there's also moon night. And, um, no.

What's the one? What's the one that was the one that was, but he remembered he looked at the gracens and asked best DC. Oh, no, that's mid-nighter. Okay.

Moon night as well. So I don't know that much about moon night. Like it's kind of on the fringe for me, but right now, Paul or Kim if I, he's doing an awesome job creating this outward, uh, this outward world, which brings me to this next statement. So my thoughts are this.

A lot of times you've heard me in the past saying, I think that the audiences are going to go into superhero fatigue. I've been saying that for a long time. I said, after this movie far from home, there was going to be a downward spiral and I still hold true to that, but I have to amend it. I have to amend in this.

I think there'll be superhero fatigue and I should have said this before because Disney totally, they're, they're marketing geniuses. These guys are like the best of the best. I'm going to mend it in this way. I still think there's going to be superhero fatigue for, oh, dude, now my brain's racing and now I have to amend what I'm just about to say because I can see it, but listen to it.

Okay. So superhero fatigue when it comes to the cinematic universe in regards to feature films. So I think Disney knew this. I think they're like, dude, we lucked out on having this huge thing, you know, no cinematic universe or no, you know, sequel prequel, whatever, the biggest one before them was freaking alien, you know, um, or even Terminator for that matter.

You know, they only got up to what? Four and five and then they're like, well, Star Wars, okay, they made, you know, four, five and six and then went back and that was a little bit different. Right. But they knew that, I think they knew they were going to get superhero fatigue.

So they said, let's mend this. They don't have to go to the movies. They can watch it from their home and on their leisure, on their time, they can do this. So it's not, oh my gosh, every far, you know, over a year or four or five movies are coming out.

Now they're reducing that to maybe one, maybe two movies and they're saying we'll come to you, we'll come to your home. And so now you don't feel like I'm going to movies, I'm still hearing the start because now I want to buy Disney Plus and a couple of those shows I want to watch because they're turning the comic book world into a television series. So I think that they knew that this was going to have super to eat and they turned it on its head. They turned the industry on its head, period the end and started their own streaming network and it's not now they're doing all these shows.

So now if you go and watch the next movie, let's say it's Doctor Strange and I read this in article because they now said that he 23 if you want to go see Doctor Strange and like the darkness of multiverse or something like that, that's the next Doctor Strange movie that's going out. It's with Wanda, but the movie kicks off where Wanda vision season one ends. So people are like, oh, so the people who don't get Disney Plus and they're like, I'm superhero fatigue out and game is my thing. Now they reduce it down to one or two movies.

They're like, okay, I'll go watch that kind of thing. And then they go watch that and they're like, oh shit, what happened with Wanda? How did she get to this point? Then they'll go back and watch the television series.

So it's kind of like in marketing because that's what I do for a living in marketing. What you want to do is always push people onto a different platform, right? But you want to keep them all in your same circle. So if you guys notice on Facebook, they'll have an article, but it'll be their Facebook space like Disney will never post an article from anyone else but a Disney blog.

So you go to a Disney blog and then go to and then like watch this video, then you'll go to Disney YouTube. So you always stay in the realm of Disney. You never leave someone else's platform. You always stay on that person's platform.

And then at the end of the Disney YouTube video, it says, for more information, go to our Facebook page and then you go right back to the Facebook page. So you're caught in this perpetual loop, right? And I think that's what they're doing on a larger scale in a visual medium, right? So you have movies and you have television and you're pushing them back and forth between these mediums.

And then you even said that your daughters are really huge and this is kind of moving away from Marvel, but it's going into the Star Wars. They're making YouTube shows like a Star Wars one, right? So they're trying to monopolize the entire market, all the mediums to push back and forth just to stay within their market. And they're marketing genius.

When I was watching D20, I'm like, Oh my gosh, these guys are like there. And there was a book that came out like 1980s, typical the mouse that would rule the world that was about this guy who was saying like Disney's like getting up. And this was back in the late 80s. This is before this is before freaking Lion King.

This is before P.B. The Beast is before all their big, big, big name to claim movies, but they talked about how much Disney and not Bob Iger. What's that guy's name who owns it all who is a CEO of Disney. I forgot his name, but they were talking about him and his Michael, Michael, yeah, Michael Eisner in his rise of fame and his ideology when it comes to certain things.

But it all makes sense. I'm still stoked to see these shows. You know, I'm going to get Disney plus just because I can get ESPN plus and Hulu and Disney plus. I already have Hulu, but I get that through Spotify.

So did you do that? Like when you if you paid for Spotify, you also get Hulu. The only reason I don't do that is because I have the commercial free tier of Hulu. Well, well, that's what I did.

And then so on plus, you know, from my nerd days and I went into sports and I'm heavier into sports nowadays and I'm keeping track of fantasy football and stuff like that. So I like ESPN plus Hulu, you know, all those. I love. So I'm going to be getting this.

Now, the shows that I'm most looking forward to. Let's get into that. So here are the shows that they mostly promoted was the ones I already said, Miss Marvel, She Hulk, Moonnighter. And then they also pushed the Mandalorian.

Okay. By John Favreau. People who don't know if you don't know, John Favreau was a person. A lot of people I was just watching an interview yesterday between Howard Stern and, uh, and also say Tony Stark and RDJ.

And he was like, dude, he was like totally like fanning the flames of RDJ. Like, dude, you are you have changed the entire world. And RDJ is looking at like, yeah, I don't really think so. Like, if you would have asked me 10 years ago after the second film, I would be like, yeah, I am Disney.

You know, like I would have said that. But when we started branching out and seeing the impact that had on other actors lives and the industry's lives, I was like, dude, this is bigger than me. So I applaud RDJ for, you know, at least saying like, you know, I do my thing. No, no, no, no, he didn't.

He was, you know, man enough to actually admit the, uh, the larger universe. Do you believe in magic? Yes. Yeah.

So that's all this singing. I'll be doing for the rest of this commercial. I am the well-read mage. I'm at a Oracle edition with a fancy hat.
