GOP Will Need Major Surgery No Matter What Happens in November | 8/26/24

The more Trump falls behind in the race, the more he seems inclined to move to the left and blame his electoral problems on conservatives rather than his own image. I go through some of his recent lurches to the left — not for the purpose of saying to stay home but to begin building a parallel movement to fix the GOP beginning today. Voting for Trump over Harris is not mutually exclusive with remaining true to who we are down-ballot and on the issues, even when that conflicts with Trump. Next, I delve deeply into a budding fight in Florida, with almost every elected Florida Republican purposely picking a fight with DeSantis over a tiny development project in a few state parks. The same people who refuse to join any of his fight against the Left, including on ubiquitous abortion and marijuana use, are suddenly feigning outrage over quality of life in the parks. It’s built on insidious lies and exposes the fact that the Florida GOP is as bad as it always was.
