Gospel of Matthew - Matthew 5:13-30 - Sermon On The Mount - Part 2: "Not One Jot or One Tittle"
from Draw Me Close: Podcast - A Ministry of Whitestone Christian Fellowship, with Pastor Bob Lawrenz · host DRAW ME CLOSE - Whitestone CF
Starting in verse 13, we begin to understand the influence that every believer has in the lives of others. Every Christian is called by God to be an influence on the world around them. As salt, we are like a preserving force slowing down the advancement of moral and spiritual decay. We are to preserve truth and goodness in a fallen world, and as a “flavor enhancer” our lives make God’s work stand out from the world, reflect His nature, and underscore the difference that Jesus makes in one’s life. The good works of Christ’s followers are to shine for all to see. We must be like a light in the darkness. Our lives ought to be a reflection of Him. His light shines bright in this dark world, and so the presence of Christians in the world must be like a light in darkness. It is God's Word that brings light to the darkened hearts of sinners, and in the same sense our lives should produce the fruit of His light in our lives, good works that are made evident to all.
