Church Life                              “Gospel Sovereignty and the Will of God”                                                            Acts 2:22-23 Christology (v.22)    Divine Sovereignty (v. 23a)    Isa. 53:4,10  4 Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted… 10 Yet it was the will of the Lord to crush him; he has put him to grief; when his soul makes an offering for guilt,     he shall see his offspring; he shall prolong his days; the will of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.   Psa. 33:10-11  10 The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; he frustrates the plans of the peoples. 11 The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of his heart to all generations.   Psa. 135:6 Whatever the Lord  pleases, he does, in heaven and on earth, in the seas and all deeps.    Isa. 46:9–10: “I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose.’”   Deut. 32:39 “‘See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god beside me; I kill and I make alive; I wound and I heal; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand.   Isa. 45:5a, 7  5 I am the LORD, and there is no other, besides me there is no God; 7 I form light and create darkness; I make well-being and create calamity; I am the LORD, who does all these things.   Deut. 29:29 “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.”     Pro. 16:33 The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the Lord.
