Date: 11.29.09 Speaker: Kristian Martens Texts: Genesis 1-3, 4:17, Proverbs (all), esp 31:10-31, 1 Corinthians 11:3-12, Ephesians 5:21-33, Titus 2, 1 Peter 3:1-7 Summary: As we study the God-given gift of sexuality, it is essential to look at our God-directed gender as it relates to others and to God. We were not designed as gender-less robots - but male & female. Equal in value & worth - but unique & distinct by Gods design. We desperately need to hear what the Bible teaches about women as it relates to being single, married, a wife and a mother - as well as a follower of Jesus. In this sermon, we will look at the historical & current state of femininity in Canada, how Jesus dealt with women - and then begin to lay out a biblical, Gospel-centred model for womanhood. Starting in Genesis, we'll see their original purpose - and how it has become so corrupted today. We'll identify the common sins of women - and end with a call to Gospel-centred beauty from Proverbs.
