Govt to give councils power to recover costs of infrastructure

Developers looking to fast-track projects could have to pay more, after the government announced on Friday it planned to give councils power to recover costs of infrastructure. The change comes amid controversy over fast track residental developments, with councils warning some projects are getting ahead of infrastructure for roads, water and wastewater. In Auckland, there's been strong criticism of the approval of a 1200 home Delmore development near Orewa. Housing and Infrastructure Minister Chris Bishop spoke to Ingrid Hipkiss.
