Everyone is unique. Certainly, we differ in personalities, our appearance, and our backgrounds. In addition, our DNAs and our fingerprints are unique to us. But there is at least one way we are the same. Every one of us has sinned. The bible says, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23 ESV). While some have sinned more than others, the one thing we all have in common is that all of us have sinned—we have fallen short of God’s glory. The bible also says that there is a consequence for our sin. It says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23 ESV). Just as everyone will one day die physically, we who have sinned will experience a spiritual death as a result of our sin. However, because God loves us, He has offered us the free gift of eternal life through what Jesus has done for us on the cross.
