Grace, Mercy, and Peace

Paul greets Timothy with "grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord," a greeting unlike the ordinary greetings of that time. Grace is God's riches at Christ's expense; mercy meets his people in their misery; peace is the presence of the Prince of Peace who stilled the storm. Believers are elect and cannot be lost, yet the way to heaven is full of hazards, and they need these gifts every day, as Job's sufferings show.
