Grace || Receive

“But He gives us more and more grace [through the power of the Holy Spirit to defy sin and live an obedient life that reflects both our faith and our gratitude for our salvation]. Therefore, it says, “GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD and HAUGHTY, BUT [continually] GIVES [the gift of] GRACE TO THE HUMBLE [who turn away from self-righteousness].” - James 4:6 Amplified Bible   I like how the Amplified brings out the richness of this passage, but notice how the Holy Spirit is the source for how grace provides us the power to overcome sin and live a life of obedience.   When you think you can overcome sin and live a life of obedience without grace, notice two things here: 1. God opposes you (why?) 2. Because he sees it as being proud and haughty.   So turn away from self-righteousness, humble yourself, and watch how God’s gift of grace will supernaturally enable you to break sins' power and live a life that’s pleasing to Him!   Listen to this week's message as we learn how to receive the grace God offers us.
