Graduating from Baby Steps to Long Fucking Strides

from The Renegade Writer's Mouthy Musings · host The Mouthy Renegade Writer

“Baby steps toward the door… Baby steps into the elevator.”Do you guys remember that Bill Murray movie, “What About Bob?” That whole baby steps thing was hilarious, and a constant theme throughout the movie. It was all about achieving your short-term goals through a series of small steps.Baby steps.I was thinking about this concept today. After having a discussion with a young adult regarding job prospects and the future, it came to mind. I thought about my own baby steps when I was younger and not so motivated. And how those steps have increased and become strides as I’ve gotten older and more experienced in life. I find myself running toward my goal of influencing political change for the better through writing and podcasting.I’m running headfirst toward those goals, full speed ahead. And it feels badass to be this motivated to effect change for the better. We’re all at different stages in our steps. Let’s keep working hard toward our personal goals and political influence. No matter if we’re at the early stage or nearing the end.© 2026 The Mouthy Renegade Writer. All rights reserved.Mooch thinks that you all deserve 50% off our paid subscription rate.
