It was an honor to catch up with this modern legend about her new 2023 CD Live at the Village Vanguard .. Following in the footsteps of Shirley Horn and Geri Allen, with the release of Live at the Village Vanguard, Davis joins the handful of women instrumentalists to record at the legendary club. In addition to creating some of the most visionary creative music around, she maintains a career as an in-demand international performer, runs a record label, and champions equity and inclusivity in jazz at The Berklee Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice. In early 2023 she became one of the first three women to win a Grammy Award for Best Jazz Instrumental Album .. We cover some great ground ..
