Grand Canyon Flash Flood Crisis | Phoenix News
from Phoenix News Today | 2 Min News | The Daily News Now!
Flash floods slammed the Grand Canyon Saturday, washing out trails and destroying nearly every footbridge over Bright Angel Creek. Over twenty people are still unaccounted for, while sixty-two were rescued from Phantom Ranch and the Lower North Kaibab Trail. Trails remain closed with no reopening date, and the National Park Service urgently seeks public tips on missing hikers in the Bright Angel Creek Corridor on August 29 — including those on the North Kaibab Trail, at Bright Angel Campground, or in “the Box” north of Phantom Ranch. Five Red Cross volunteers are on-site, but more rain and potential rockfalls loom through Monday. If you know anything — names, destinations, clothing — contact the Park Service’s Investigative Service Branch. Listen in comfort:Get a discount on a Soli Pillow: http://solipillow.com/discount/dnn.
