Grand Canyon Flood Leaves 15 Missing | Calgary News

A massive flash flood tore through the Grand Canyon, leaving as many as fifteen people missing and forcing the evacuation of dozens from popular sites like Bright Angel Campground and Phantom Ranch—now closed as officials scramble to assess the damage. Torrential waters, powerful enough to sweep boulders and metal structures downstream, obliterated footbridges, reshaped creek beds, and created dangerous new rapids. Though no injuries have been reported, over sixty people were evacuated from Phantom Ranch, and the park remains on high alert as more rain and storms threaten further flooding. With rafting trips halted and key tourist zones shut down, the focus is on search efforts, securing hazardous zones, and preparing for what’s next in this rapidly evolving crisis.
