Grand Canyon's Mountain West Debut Ends in Heartbreak

Grand Canyon Universitys mens basketball team, the Lopes, suffered a heartbreaking loss in the Mountain West Conference quarterfinals, falling to Nevada, eighty-four to eighty. Despite leading by eleven points at halftime, the Lopes saw their season end as Nevada mounted a strong comeback. The Wolf Pack advanced to face top-seeded Utah State in the semifinals. This defeat marked the first time Grand Canyon lost a game after leading at the break in their debut season in the conference. Free throws proved decisive, with Nevada sinking thirty-six of forty-five for the game while Grand Canyon made just twenty-seven of forty-one. The Lopes struggled with twelve second-half turnovers, foul trouble, and a season-high twenty-seven fouls called against them. Despite the early exit from Vegas, Grand Canyons first-year Mountain West experience builds momentum heading into next season. Support the show:Get a discount at https://solipillow.com/discount/dnn.
