Grassroots 101: How to Fight the Law and Win

from The Break-up Whisperer · host Bathabile Mthombeni

Can you fight the law and win?  The Presidential race is ramping up in the United States and with it come the local, state, and national elections that give citizens the chance to impact politics in their communities in major ways. This broadcast of The Problem Is the Answer is about how to get the job done - no matter your political orientation. My guest is Cathy Marino-Thomas, Communications Director and President of the Board of Directors of Marriage Equality New York or MENY.  MENY lead the grassroots effort that succeeded in convincing a majority of the the New York State Legislature to pass a bill into law making same-sex marriage legal in the State of New York. Cathy, a now very seasoned veteran of grassroots organizing, will share the wisdom she gained from mounting a successful grassroots campaign. We will draw from her recent experiences to lay out a formula for how a grassroots effort can achieve social and political change.
