But amidst this untamed devotion is a string of tragedies that even contemporary crime experts couldn’t seem to figure out.In 1990, Douglas Simmons, a man from Florida, traveled to see a Grateful Dead show held at a university in Raleigh, North Carolina. During the event, Simmons told a few of his companions at the concert that he was leaving the area and heading to his car parked in a nearby lot. He was never again seen.2. Murder of a Bridesmaid in TexasOn January 13, 1995, second-grade teacher Mary Catherine Edwards arrived home from school. She went out to take her dog for a quick walk. She got home again and poured herself a glass of wine. She then called her boyfriend. Unknowingly, this would be the last time she would be heard of alive.The following day, the parents of the 31-year-old decided to go over to her place to check when she failed to return their calls. They were met with an inexplicable sight of their dead daughter in the bathroom upstairs. As described by the report, she was "draped over the edge of the bathtub with her head in the water, and her legs on the floor."
