Grateful for Progress

from Horse Hippie’s Morning Mantras · host Horse Hippie

Morning Mantra: “Instead of looking how far you still have to go, take a moment of gratitude for how far you have come.”I’m struggling with this a little right now.  I have owned my horse for almost two years and sometimes I feel like we aren’t making any progress with his physical and mental issues or his training goals.I truly understand the value of taking things slow with horses, but it gets frustrating- especially when you compare your progress to others.  And that is the problem. When I catch myself doing that, I pause.  I remind myself that everyone, every horse, and everything progresses at their own speed.  I try to find little glimmers of differences, not comparing him to others, but on how he was when he came to me versus how he is now.  How WE are now.My glimmers are tiny. I can comb his mane and even trim it now with him freaking out.  I can spray him with fly spray, pick out his feet and use the vacuum on him. He happily comes to me in the field. He can pick up his right lead and has started over jumps!  I see that in two years that doesn’t seem like much, but if I focus on that I get discouraged and that doesn’t help us move forward. So today, I’ll focus on our progress and not perfection and be grateful for the little steps.#BeGratefulForAnyProgress  #HorseHippie #MorningMantra #inspirationalQuotes #MorningMotivation #Equestrian #HorseLover #QuotesToInspire #HorseHippieBrand #HorseHippieBoutique
