Welcome, bienvenidos to The Daily Elena, a podcast where I'll be sharing stories of people who are first generation in the United States, in college, or in the workforce, spaces where being first generation can be both difficult and exciting to navigate. Now, in today's episode, you'll be hearing a special message from one of my nephews, so this is actually a little bonus episode. We won't have a full-on story, but the message will still be there. You'll be hearing a message about being grateful for my nephew, Jacob.

Jacob is in fifth grade, and he's excited to share this message with you. But before we get into this message, we'll first get to know Jacob a little bit more. Okay, Jacob, this is an icebreaker question. Why don't you tell us what's bringing you joy today?

What is bringing me joy is waking up another day, breathing air, and yeah. That's a deep reflection on what's bringing you joy. And my second icebreaker question for you is, what makes you uniquely you? What makes me unique is my ears, they're wide and flexible, but they're very, like, fidgeting, and you can use them as, like, a puppet.

A puppet, like the ones that you grab with your hands and you push a button out? And right now Jacob is showing me that. We're recording live. Well, I think that's definitely something that makes you unique.

Also, other things that I like to do for my hobby is playing soccer and also sitting down on the couch. I'm watching TV. Good hobby to have. Do you like reading?

Yeah, I love reading. Okay, well, let me get to our recommendations. You can share some books that you think others should be, too. So, like I mentioned earlier, Jacob wants to share a message on the importance of being grateful.

So, Jacob, why don't you share that message with our listeners today? My message is that you never know if you're going to wake up tomorrow. If you say you're going to go to work tomorrow, you never know if you're actually going to go to work tomorrow. Because you don't know the future.

Since we're talking about being grateful, why don't you tell me three things that you're grateful for right now? The thing that I'm grateful for right now, three things, is being right here in the present, being in a house, and having family. That's beautiful. Yeah.

Yeah, thank you for sharing. You're welcome. And earlier you mentioned that you like reading. So, for our recommendations section, is there a book that you recommend for our listeners to read?

Yeah. I like the book Dogman that I like to read, and it's a short book. It has a lot of books as a series, and it's very nice. It's very short, and it's like a comic.

So, I'd recommend it to other people. And I also want to share that this podcast episode featuring my nephew, Jacob, was fully edited by Jacob. I helped guide him a little bit with editing, but the platform I used was what he was also familiar with. So, yeah, it's been edited.

Sound has been added by my 10-year-old nephew, Jacob. Thank you for tuning into this short bonus episode of The Daily Elena, and hearing the special message of being grateful for my nephew, Jacob. I'm your host, Elena, and it has been a pleasure bringing you this story today.
