from Sunrise · host LiSTNR
A great white shark came within a metre of a body boarder at South Curl Curl beach in Sydney, just one month after the implementation of a $34 million drone surveillance program covering 50 beaches. Local residents have questioned the effectiveness of the program, reporting that drones have not been patrolling beaches as promised, with the shark alarm taking an hour to sound after the sighting. Surf Life Saving explained the drone operator was stationed at North Curl Curl at the time, unable to monitor South Curl Curl beach.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
