This is Drake, and I'm barely whiskey. That mean you've been watered down Kinda Some I'd sad news is my little couple that sometimes y'all here in the background if you know something has the audacity to move outside He passed on Sunday. We had to put him down and I'm very sad. It was hard.
So yeah, it's been a rough week No pun intended Some days it's not that I don't notice he's gone, but you get busy and everyone's like oh he's not here He's not exercising with me. He's not barking at my students when they come to the door It's always those things that annoy you that you miss the most, you know, absolutely Well, he went so fast. He was just fine Thursday and then Sunday. He's gone.
So I guess I'm glad he didn't suffer Yeah, he was a good little dog Old, just out of old age. He was also so cute. So we get a new page on good question I think we did but it's been a little while back. I would call it a story. So springtime a ghost story by Michelle de Krestor Which is spelled E space K-R-E-T-S-E-R and we will probably do that in June That's what I'm thinking that gives everybody time to buy it to read it if you're a reader and you read a lot It really should probably take you like a half an hour. It looks like it's gonna be a pretty quick read Hey, our main topic sponsored by Otails find Mexican food They're delicious highly recommended by us and the team and go out to Otails So our main topic today is the Greenbrier ghost which sounds very I don't know kind of exotic to me Greenbrier ghost It's actually a gal named Zona Hester Shoe and it's really an interesting story so it's one of those is it murder is it an accident and The person who solved it is actually very interesting So let's just jump into a little bit about Erasmus shoe Yeah, you guys know Erasmus shoe, right? You might have known him as Edward shoe or Erasmus dribbling trout shoe Trout shoe is the name that I like Because it sounds like a fish shoe.
Hey for the gumshoe detectives, right? This is a fish shoe man named Erasmus which already sounds like something that you would call us about in your house That's opening your doors at night Erasmus But even I don't know sounds sounds biblical was born in 1861 just to place them and died on March 13, 1900 He let a pretty tumultuous life He was married twice before he married a woman named Zona I don't know if it's Hester Hester when they got married it was his own issue Very interesting names It's important to note that his first marriage ended in divorce amid allegations of cruelty and his second wife died under mysterious circumstances shortly after their marriage So a little bit of history there and then he married Zona in 1896 after they dated for a brief amount of time despite objections from her mother Mary Jane Easter Hester Easterly It says Easter if you take the H off so we'll just say he's there just seems like I'm trying to say a sister But also he had the same time. I don't know. I think it's Hester Hester sounds like a Minds me of storage wars Hey Hester, but I believe that he's famously the person who married Zona shoe I think there's also some accounts that say he might have been a blacksmith and Yeah, that's all I know about her as a shoe not a lot of not a lot of Instagram posts and Facebook I could look up about this guy from the late 1800s Unfortunately something I found interesting about mr.
Trout fishman is He was actually married three times and his first two wives his first wife. He just left her but his second wife died under questionable circumstances So what you're trying to say is he has a demonic sounding name. He's got three marriages, so he's mocking the Trinity Yeah, things aren't stacking up to look very good for mr. Erasmus, but we're still early in the story.
We're not gonna point anything Or yet we gotta get all the information So I don't I don't know too much about Zona the person he married unfortunately. Does anybody know anything about that? I sure do So Zona was born in Greenbrier County, West Virginia in 1873 and she married Erasmus I like to call him trout because I just think he was a fish and Zona was 23 years old so after three months of marriage She was found dead on January 23rd 1897 in her home at the foot of the stairs by Andy Jones who is a little neighbor boy That was hard to do with some chores for them So that boy ran home and told his mom and so the mom called Dr. Knapp and when dr.
Knapp arrived she was already dressed like ready for her burial and she was in a like a high-necked dress and dr. Knapp started examining Zona and mr. Trout began to act suspicious So he cried the whole time while he was trying to see what happened with her and when he got to her neck He like freaked out and so the doctors like whoa whoa like I'll just back off and I don't want to upset this guy anymore Then he already is and so he said that they presumed she died in childbirth or another account says that there's a heart failure claim So She was buried in stool chapel methicimatary Within 24 hours of her dying like basically a warm corpse was buried and when you rush something there might be something going on With that death that's all I'm saying or I could be religious not be there some religious I could be buried within a certain time but Questionable just saying it he was already acting weird rushed to bury the body What are you hiding? We got a thorough you got to be thorough and yeah the doctor Mr.
Trout got the best of the doctor I think he's just trying to not upset him or whatever just Don't do that. So zona's mother was an interesting soul and I don't know I think all the moms are interesting souls We all have our quirks but her name was mary jane hester And she was never really crazy about the marriage between her daughter and mr. Trout I guess mr. Shoe mr.
Trout Shoe. She just didn't like it. She kind of heard the stories about his first two wives and she was convinced that her son-in-law murdered her daughter, but there wasn't really any proof and Some really weird things started to happen So her daughter died and She washed a sheet that had been in the coffin and the water that she washed the sheet and turned red and the sheet turned a pink that Mary can never get out of the sheet and about four weeks after her daughter's death Mary jane started having that was her name mary jane hester She started having visions and for four nights in a row zona's ghost came to her and told her that trout had abused her And the ghost told her mother how she and trout had argued on the day that she died She said that trout attacked her and broke her neck And as the ghost was leaving she turned her head around until it was completely facing backwards And i'm sorry having your neck broken by your spouse three months after you get married is a terrible thing But that would be really cool to see someone do like in a ghost form. That would be kind of creepy Yes, you said cool first and I don't think you meant it would be cool.
I feel like I want to do that cool, but cool if i'm investigating a house and a ghost where an apparition worked with her to me and then it's head turned completely Around i'd be like whoa cool that cool if I saw a ghost in his spun its head 360 or 180 degrees It's not a ghost anymore. Loves are coming on. We're throwing hands. All right, we got a Salt, holy water.
I'm calling every priest in a small Right after the head spinning the very next thing is always the piece soup and you know that all right pop culture taught us anything We're about to get protected on dawn and it's gonna start insulting my mom. So You gotta be ready, you know Yes, so as most moms do she kind of went into mom-a-bear mode and she took her story to the prosecutor Whose name was john alfred Preston and He was thinking this is a ghost story. You know what i'm gonna do with a ghost story I can't believe just a ghost story, but he was persistent and so he started asking questions in town And velma I know that you had mentioned something about kind of along the lines of conspiracy theory This is right after alley, but how it was a you know, how did they determine it was a death or a murder? Well, here's the thing the accident This is back in the daytime, right like women are not necessarily believed I feel like in that time period So I feel like while the evidence backed up the claim because i'm surprised they believed her enough to say okay Yeah, but I go told you know dig them up.
Let's dig them up But not you they probably said hey something's fishy and they didn't believe him so they didn't do the ghost thing So some people believe that happened in the end he got caught or got But some people think that might be they already the mom was already suspicious of him and especially knowing the history of his past relationships So you did it as a way to get thirties to actually investigate it further So they believe that digging up and finding those are just twins with dental or misinterpreted or just hey We happen to really know that let's be sneaky I don't know I did get a quote about what it was like when I opened it Someone said the discovery is made that the neck was broken and the windpipe smashed on the throat were the marks of fingers indicating that she had been choked The neck was dislocated between the first and second grade the ligaments were torn and ruptured The windpipe had been crushed to the point to add a point in front of the neck They did find some extreme evidence that it wasn't natural causes Do you know why they didn't find those at first? I know this so when doctor she died and there was actually a boy that had found her that helped clean the house And the doctor came to the house and the husband already had her laying on the bed in her funeral clothes Which the doctor thought was weird and he the dress that she was wearing had a really high neck on it And when he started examining her, the trial got really really weirded out and so the doctor stopped so they never really did a full examination Of course he did. That's what that's what Moon was alluding to I mean it was covering it up very beginning And all I'm gonna say is very Jane is lucky that this is post Salem witch trials because I'm just saying if she was like the spirits told me That my daughter was my daughter spoke to me. She would have been the next person that died in this incident Amazing David Lippon.
That's crazy Clearly the prosecutor wanted to paycheck. That's all I'm saying for that time period like you're calling out for him to just be like Oh, yeah, you the ghost of your dead daughter came and talked to you. Let me keep working on this nowadays I feel like people want this new as much but it's actually a recent story of a child seeing a missing hiker The scribe to police and everything exactly what they're wearing name and all that and Pointing to where she went missing so this stuff is still happening to this day and the police actually still take it seriously Which is you know, I had a weird story Wild I was story that's kind of it's not that deep but At when I go up at West Point for like high school the military academy There's like in the area where like the posts where people live There's like a bunch of woods and there's trails within it to get quicker to other places because on the mountainside and we went to the every football stadium and Afterwards, we're like, okay. We want to walk through the woods to get back to the house And so there's a weird it's really strange.
There's like a playground deep in the middle of the woods. It's like magical. Yeah weird So it's kind of weird and so my sister and I were like, hey, what's going on over there and play on playground for a minute? I was like, no, no, we gotta go and we had heard recently that there was a guy missing like a guy that lived in the barracks was missing I'm like wouldn't be crazy if we found his body, right?
So we didn't go play over there and thank god because later that day a child found the body over there Oh my god You got you were protected by something. Do you have the opposite of telling you where someone said hey, don't go over there There's a dead guy That's just crazy and apparently like he had been stumbling through the woods all drunk trying to like get back to the barracks and he like slipped And fell down because it was like the there's It's mountainy. There's edges where you just look right off He was stumbling back to the woods and he happened to slip and fall apparently drinking and then it was long It's like all mountainy. So it's like hillside.
Why is there a playground near that? I don't know but yeah, so thank god because I can't imagine the trauma I would have if I found like a dead stinky body In the woods as a I don't know I think I was a sophomore or a junior in high school. That's crazy That's why they found it. That's why they found it Luckily in this case the body was only dead and hopefully not stinky because it's been less than 20 for hours and the fresh set of clothes on So there you go more of the story if you want to be found I guess don't be dead in stinky and the children will find you Oh my goodness So the end of the story is mr.
Trout ended up going to prison Yesterday in his trial that he did not make a good impression on the jurors and so The 10 of the 12 voted for um executions and not enough to execute him But the life sentence did not please the residents of green brier. They felt that he should hang And on july 11th 1897 an armed armed mob gathered because they wanted to lynch him But the sheriff was able to hear of this plot to lynch him before it happened And they were able to hide him in the woods and then the sheriff went out to the mob and said hey You need to go home, you know justice has been done This is fair four of them were later indicted for attempting to lynch him But on july 13th 1897 he was sent to the penitentiary in west virginia and he died there three years later of natural causes So not a cool man, but kind of a cool story as far as the ghost Trying to get justice for herself You know when I read it she did I saw that when zona went to mary to Tell him or tell her about how she died and everything She said that she got strangled, I guess because she didn't cook the meat in time. So pretty shameful man I feel like my mom has almost done that to me for not falling out of chicken So I can maybe see where he's coming from as a mom. I get that is stressful But guess what they did not have mcdonald's back then where they could just zip over and grab food See so all that's left is strangle without mcdonald's strangleings would go up around the united states Let's see what she is Because my go-to if I don't have time to thaw out the meat is just a case of dia or nachos Cheese They definitely had case of dia and nachos easily accessible in 1997 before they freeze brag They didn't have good cheese They didn't have Costco to get trancians from I just bet they had canned peaches and canned fruit.

I guess what we got our first sale At our last event it was really exciting for us So at the clubhouse that we'll talk about later the investigations how that all went but that was the first event where we had like some of our stuff out and We put stuff out and we sold some stuff so Keep your eyes out. We'll have more cool stuff and we sold some of the question and answer light sets and the little 3d stands 3d print stands that moon hand painted they didn't pick the glow dark ones I was surprised technically these ones glow in the dark but moon's painting is so cool that nobody can say no to it I'm looking at glow in the dark paint.
Well, it does go in the dark. That's like it's trashy But so we do not advertise the colorful one I've painted we're going to dark I'm like do not tell anybody because it's embarrassing the way they glow But the one that whiskey has printed like they glow all the way through I love looking at them because the entire thing is illuminated when you look at the ones that I painted it's streaky and Yeah, but it goes from looking like really cool to like a child's project So it's just that's an added feature to the painted ones and the other ones just straight up They glow in the light like the back one the dark stuff is so sensitive It is crazy. So shout out to the people that showed up to that event and shouted people that made our first purchases You probably didn't know but you're pretty excited. Yeah Should have taken a selfie with them and put it on your Instagram.
Oh, then I would add a charge them more That's an additional thing that we sell is something. It's dollars for a photo 100 for the odd rest of it. There was also a person there Just like we're on the south there where we're talking about people that walked up to us like before The asked if the people from the podcast were there. I was like oh, yeah, I'm one of them moon's right over there Raven's there.
There's Chad and they're like oh cool. And I was like did you have a question about it? No What do they look like? I'd never seen him before but I was like okay.

So then we have to pull a bit different one So what do you guys know about trolls? Like the little guys with the hair and the jewel in there They're involved in bridges and they got a jewel in their tongue Trolls, yeah, and you remember the troll dolls back Oh, I had some With the little naked troll dolls with the crazy hair that stood straight up and the little gem on their belly button Yeah, those are the best So in 1942 there was an image that was captured. It was in December Bern World War II obviously with by a crew of a British Air Force aircraft It was just under 500 kilometers from Bergen, Norway And it very much looks like a troll And we'll have to pop this up on on our webpage But oh, let's see, can y'all see that? So just to put your on my phone So it's it just looks like the sky's cloudy There is snow on the ground obviously it's December There's pine trees and there looks to be like the shadow of a troll Now we've talked about this a little bit here and there it could be paretolea And paretolea is just the concept of your brain wanting to make Sense out of chaos and so that's why oftentimes people say oh, I see, you know a face Look at this picture there to face in it Is it a face or is it just your brain trying to make a face? That looks like Godzilla in an old grainy black and white Yeah, I mean the pine trees I think it's paretolea because it is so enormous compared to those pine trees But like are those pine trees or those bushes? They look like pine trees to me This what I could see so small it looks like Sasquatch so I don't know. Yeah, they're gonna be a troll. Yeah, if it is real, it's like jolly freaking enormous But you know it's interesting.
You never know I could see regardless of it being paretolea or a real thing I can see if these air force Servicemen were just taking a picture and then once they get it developed back in the days or you had to develop stuff Thinking what in the heck is that? Yeah, so if you haven't got your tickets yet There are still if you left so wouldn't you hear this if you haven't got your tickets yet grab them and we will see you on the 22nd So we to have two investigations since our last podcast And we didn't talk about them on our last podcast because the people who were there couldn't podcast last time So we did clubhouse on south temple as our public investigation So let's talk a little bit about what happened there whiskey. How did moon? How did your teams fair that night?
My team fair the best as they always do That's right So I explained to the crew that unfortunately was assigned to me at the very beginning that I had never been to this place before We as a team have never been to this place before so tonight or that night was going to be A lot of figuring things out as we know in a lot of our investigations even in like house calls or anywhere else We have to find a way for the spirits to communicate and it's not always the same and there's a learning curve with everything Especially if we've never been there before right? We don't know what they're gonna be able to use whoever or whatever we're talking to us to learn how to use what we're using So I put out tons of equipment did the tried and true boopy trap method around the room to see what we'd get Kind of hand it things out a couple of people in my crew add the Had some equipment so that helped too and so we started just kind of like talking about things asking questions I'm trying to bring up some historical facts to see if that would Do anything and once we started talking about two kids that might have died during the construction We started getting a lot of activity and it was crazy. They were lighting up the lights They're saying on the catfalls it was not intelligent to the point where it would answer yes or no questions by doing things But if asked if it was there it would go turn on a cap all I would go hit a k2 meter So that was really cool And then we also had talked about the kind of groundskeeper a couple times and we got a lot of responses The spirit box we kept hearing like a guy talking and then you tear some kind of like women in the background And then you hear some guy talking a lot and we ended up finding out that the caretaker did have a heart attack in the building And was pronounced at the hospital so that that was an interesting history there We luckily got to go into The dark room the community dark room super cool building They have tons of free stuff for the community to do in there all the time lots of free events And it's an event menu that you can book But they also have a community dark room in there and so me and my group went in there And the vibes were Interesting in there to say the least it started getting dark people's batteries were draining And then we heard a growl happen in the room with my crew trusty people So I don't know what kind of photos are getting developed down there I might need to look into that and maybe like a local serial killer coming in there I'm just kidding probably not but maybe never know keep your mind open you know So we had that and then we finally went up into the back room the stage where we started getting a lot of activity at the Night we had some guy I think you want to be called her Aldo or something like that That was constantly talking through spirit box We did the s's method gave people different the time so we had a few people get affected after the growl Luckily, I had Randy from the Mystic Frog on my team So in a little downtime while we were just taking a quick snack break on the way to our next area She was able to help do some cleansing and get everybody set right but I went in with pretty low expectations on what we'd be able to get and left with a pretty good experience overall What about you? So my team I was paired with Kristi and we were starting off in the basement and she let one of our Customers use her psilence screen and so I was in the bathroom with him and a few other people And we were getting figures like on the toilet and then it would kick its leg up on the wall and different things So it was interesting.
He's really having trouble pooping there. He's trying to look up on the wall Sorry, we're not trying to make your privacy But we have questions and we did get some more activity like some of our k2s were going off I had a Tri-field meter that wasn't going off at all but our k2s were going off so that was interesting And then we went off into Some different rooms that building is so cool like the person that has restored something has made it really really amazing So we went back into this laundry area and there were creepy feelings Some of the people on my team were using dowsing rods and getting answers asking questions and that room is where I felt probably the most Negative, I would say just not comfortable I guess but I felt tingly on my head and it felt like sometimes when I'm like out investigating not very often But sometimes I'll feel like someone's pinching my legs And so that was happening not only to me but to some of the other people around so that was pretty interesting And then we went up into the auditorium type of area beautiful building And there was two rooms up off the stage and they both seem to be hopping with some paranormal activity I was kind of floating around trying to make sure everybody was doing good on my team and make sure everyone was accounted for And then so I personally didn't get tons of evidence in that area But then we went and I got to go upstairs and like in the lobby area slash like little bar area And we got a little bit of activity my husband for Valentine's is very sweet and he got me a dead bell And so I talked too whiskey about it to see how to use it properly And so I just set the setting on low and we got that to ding like maybe twice that night So that was really exciting something that happened So this isn't paranormal, but I kept hearing some noises through the walkie talkie So I talked through it and as it's sending out its signal like everything my REM pod the bell like all these things just lit up in the room And so it's important to not think that everything is paranormal, especially if you're using equipment like a walkie talkie or something 100% yeah, that's the benefit of having a tri-field meter too as you can quickly debunk that even what about you what happened in your group? So I won't have to you know just second whiskey's comment about using a tri-field meter the first room we were in We said everything out started asking questions and everything went up and we're like whoo But then I looked at my tri-field meter and I said no we're gonna ton of radio waves And so every time everything would light up it was radio waves from somewhere We made sure everyone had their phones on airplane mode And so we had to negate that and I said let's we're gonna have to use some going into a different area Our group started out all in one little room where we were having the radio waves Because that's kind of where I felt the most stuff as we did just a quick walkthrough when we first got there And now I wonder was I feeling just weirded out from the radio waves And our groups were a little bit bigger than I cared for and so our group actually split into we stayed in the same area But it was so big that we could easily split out in most of the areas And honestly every time I have investigated somewhere the first time it's always quiet And I think it's because the spirits I'm just guessing but it seems like the spirits are like whoa You're talking to us what we can see is weird not that we can but someone starts talking to you You're gonna think can you see us and so being an empath I could feel that there's a lot of spirits there I could feel that they were interested in who we are and why are we talking to them But they seemed a little I don't say timid but just wary we did get something to the dowsing rods We got a lot of things through the little little little bullet lights They really seem to like those quite a bit A couple of people in my group did get touched We got several interesting comments And I can never remember what it's called my talky box that just spits out the words Got a lot of relevant things through there it was uncanny In those there's a few words and phrases that it just routinely spits out and so when it spits one of those out You know you just say ass is that all the time But for about 10 minutes we ask questions and everything was very very relevant The people that own it are amazing very nice very eager for us to to come back So I'm interested in going back and seeing if if the spirits are a little more shabby And with any venue even family tree we can go there and there can be nothing it can be just dead pun intended And then we've gone back where people have been so freaked out they've run across the street screaming and the middle of the investigation And so I don't know if it was just kind of a slow night that night spirits just weren't feeling it Or if they weren't feeling it because it was new but in general it was pretty quiet but definitely Definitely active and so I think next time we go it'll be interesting to see the difference For sure yeah, okay, then we did a residential and I don't know in my opinion That's hard to say this is a residential it's actually my son's house He recently moved into an apartment not far from my house just maybe 10 minutes away And he felt like there was something there He wasn't scared of it. He just mostly was curious what it was He named the spirit Jeeves and I didn't really bother him.
He's grown up with a go-tenter mom So this son is quite sensitive and he has actually seen and felt spirits before And so he said that he could hear knocking on his door He could hear just knocking on the door. He could hear what do I keep saying he could hear Could hear anything knocking on the door which he could hear And then just the way his light switch was it was turning off and on in ways that he didn't feel like it should Was he do you want to explain what was actually happening with his light switch because we did find out that was not paranormal I can't say that it was for sure not paranormal right?
