Green Energy Law has found a home in Houston.

James Cargas, a managing attorney for Green Energy Law, shared his career journey and experiences in energy law on episode 265 of The Green Insider Podcast. James’ experiences include his work in the Clinton administration and the city of Houston.  Mike and James also discussed various strategies for cities to save money and manage energy supply risks, as well as the concept of Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) and its potential impact on renewable energy projects. Lastly, they expressed concerns about the current political climate and its potential impact on various issues, including the energy sector. Cargas then worked at the President’s Council for Sustainable Development during the Clinton administration and on Al Gore’s presidential campaign. He was assigned to the Dallas-Fort Worth area for the primary campaign. James discussed his involvement in the Bill Bradley campaign, followed by his work in the Clinton Administration, and eventually joining the North American Energy Standards Board in Houston. He also shared his experience working for the city of Houston, where he was part of the city attorney’s office and contributed to the city’s sustainability and energy initiatives. Mike asked James about the biggest surprise he faced during his tenure in the city, to which James responded that it was the professional challenge of working with a large- scale energy budget.
