Greenville voters dismiss risks; socialism gains support over Trump or MAGA.

from The Charlie James Show Podcast

During the segment, a caller named Barbara shared her concern that election scanners could be hacked, referencing Donald Trump's recent speech. She suggested that auditing 10% to 12% of precincts could ensure ballots match. Host Charlie James then discussed a recent poll showing that 32% of registered voters would support a democratic socialist, while only 29% would back a Trump-endorsed candidate and 27% a MAGA supporter. He noted that this growing support for socialism is a dangerous shift in the electorate. He also highlighted efforts in New York City by Zohran Mamdani to challenge private property rights and halt background checks for renters. James warned that voters continue to support these ideas without understanding the failures of past socialist nations.

Full Transcript Charlie James: All right, welcome back to the program. Let's go to Barbara in Greenville. Barbara, what's going on? Barbara (Caller): Well, hi, Charlie. Um, I have a couple of things. One, I went through the training to be an election judge, but I decided not to do it because I figured I'd be in trouble all day long. Um, my question—here's—here's the thing: we're very careful about the procedures, but when it gets to the end, you put that ballot in a scanner. Scanners can be hacked. Charlie James: Yeah. Well, I mean, we just saw that with—with what President Trump talked about last night, that was proven. Barbara (Caller): Yes. So, and then they said—I asked about that, and they said, "Well, we have an audit." And I said, "Well, how many?" They said, "Well, 2%." And it's predetermined, so we should see that maybe 10, 12% of the voter precincts should be audited to see if the ballots match. And, um, another thing: we were trained in how to handle people who don't speak English. And I said, "Well, I—page 91 says you have to be a citizen." "Oh, well, they—they're citizens, but they don't speak English." I said, "Well, you can't pass the test." Well, anyway, I didn't get—there was no answer on that. Charlie James: Yeah. Barbara (Caller): And then, my—my second thing is, you said people out there don't care. Charlie, I've talked to some people: they choose not to care. Their life is comfortable here, and especially in—in—especially in this wonderful city of Greenville. They have no concept of how fast it can disappear. I moved here at the age of 82 from Denver. I lived there for 23 years. I thought, you know, that—that I would stay there. I loved Colorado. But because it's a sanctuary city, they absolutely destroyed it. You know about Tren de Aragua taking over those apartments. I mean, and you couldn't go downtown, it wasn't safe, there was shit all over the sidewalk. Charlie James: Oh, bubs, sorry, there you go. Barbara (Caller): So, I know what can happen, and it can happen in a hurry. So, what we have to do is, first of all, we have to have more audits, and we have to get rid of the scanners. We need paper ballots. Charlie James: Yeah, I—I agree. Let's—let's go to paper ballots. I appreciate it, Barbara, thank you very much. So, how close—I had somebody ask me yesterday, "Charlie, do you think America will ever be a communist nation or a socialist nation?" I'm here to tell you, we are closer than we have ever been right now. There was a poll recently that found that 32% of registered voters would be more likely to vote for a candidate if they described themselves as a democratic socialist, while 29% of voters would be more likely to vote for a candidate with Trump's endorsement. 32% would be more likely to vote for a democratic socialist, 29% would be more likely to vote for a Trump candidate, and 27% would be more likely to vote for a self-described supporter of the MAGA movement. 32% of Americans say that they would vote for a democratic socialist. That's scary. It should be scary. It should be enough to get people woke up, but they're not. I mean, if you go—you just look at what they're doing in—in—in New York City. Zohran Mamdani is—(laughs)—what he's trying to do is he's trying to, um, confiscate private property. That—that's what he wants to do. Want you to listen to this: he had a—a ridiculous press conference today with this whack-job in a—in an N95 mask, let's take a listen. Zohran Mamdani Press Conference Clip: “Our city is turning the corner on tenant power. When we organize, we win results. The Mamdani administration is emboldening us so that we no longer tolerate the violence of evictions as a matter of business as usual. (Crowd applauds) My landlord owns dozens of buildings, but he is not a steward of the public trust. In fact, it is the opposite.” Charlie James: Listen to that. "The violence of evictions." How about the violence of not paying your rent? That's violence. So now wha ...
