Greg Allen Honored with Zunic Award | Syracuse Orangemen Football News

Greg Allen, Syracuse’s legendary 1960s punt returner and trailblazing activist, is the 2026 recipient of the Zunic Award — honoring courage, sacrifice, and spirit. Once part of the historic “Syracuse 8” who boycotted the 1970 season to demand racial equity and better athlete support, Allen’s legacy extends far beyond the gridiron. Now a devoted community servant on multiple boards, he continues uplifting students and neighborhoods. He’ll be honored in halftime of Syracuse’s big ACC opener against California this Saturday at 3:30 PM ET — a fitting tribute to a man who changed sports, stood for justice, and still leads with heart.
