Grigori Rasputin: Healer, Mystic, and the Romanovs' Last Hope

In this episode, Lucas and Luna explore the improbable rise of Grigori Rasputin, the Siberian peasant who became the most trusted figure in the Romanov court. From his early days as a strannik in Pokrovskoye to his influence over Tsarina Alexandra, Rasputin's story is one of faith, politics, and scandal. The conversation traces his arrival in St. Petersburg in 1903, his meetings with the imperial family, and his role in the tragic saga of Tsarevich Alexei, whose hemophilia made Rasputin's prayers seem miraculous. They examine his political sway during World War I, his ties to the 'dark forces' that haunted the dynasty's reputation, and the conspiracy that led to his murder in December 1916 in the Yusupov Palace. Along the way, they separate the man from the legend—questioning how much of his power was real and how much was a creation of a court desperate for salvation. The episode closes with a reflection on how Rasputin's death did nothing to save the dynasty, and how the Romanovs' dependence on a mystic became a symbol of their fatal isolation. #GrigoriRasputin #RomanovDynasty #TsarinaAlexandra #TsarevichAlexei #Hemophilia #YusupovPalace #SiberianMystic #ImperialCourt #WorldWarI #RussianRevolution #StPetersburg1903 #Pokrovskoye #Staritsa #FelixYusupov #VladimirPurishkevich #DarkForces #History #FexingoHistory Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
