Grocery Cart Comparison, Reddit's Loblaw's Boycott, and Healthy Food vs. Affordability

from The Morning Brew with Andrew Schultz · host Corus Radio

‌Last year our morning show team went to major grocery stores around the city to compare prices and hunt for the ‘best deals’. Well, we got the ‘band’ back together for an update on what prices look like right now in Calgary and share the details on another round of our “Grocery Cart Comparison”.   Continuing our conversation on the high cost of groceries. Can we, as Canadians, point to one Grocery Chain for ‘gauging’ customers? Well a new ‘online campaign’ on “Reddit” is now suggesting a boycott of “Loblaws” stores. We catch up with Sylvain Charlebois, Professor and Director, Agri-Food Analytics Lab, for his thoughts on this ‘movement’.   Finally, choosing between eating healthy, nutritious food and paying your rent is not a choice anyone should have to make. But with inflation and rising food prices, is our health being impacted by picking the cheaper options for dinner? We tackle the topic with Lesley Langille, Lead Counselling Dietitian of Calgary-based nutrition counselling practice, ‘The Centre for Family Nutrition’.
