Grounds for Conversation: Gail Evans

Leadership does not happen in isolation. It unfolds inside moments that shape a country, an industry, and sometimes a generation. Gail Evans began her career in the White House during the Lyndon B. Johnson administration at a time when the nation was grappling with civil rights and equal opportunity. Early on, she saw how leadership decisions could broaden access and create lasting impact. She later moved on to media, joining CNN in the early years and ultimately serving as their executive vice president. There, she helped to lead during a time of rapid growth and global visibility, shaping not only programming, but people. After CNN, she turned her experience into insight, becoming a bestselling author and challenging leaders to understand how influence really works and how it can be used to elevate others. Today, she continues that work as a consultant to major corporations, serving on a range of boards, mentoring leaders across industries, and sharing her experience with students in higher education. Her career spans decades of change in this country, from civil rights to the rise of global media to today's conversations about leadership and responsibility.
