Growing produce powered by biodiversity with Martin and Will from Brookfarm

from That's How We Grow · host Charlie Albone

The transformation of land from a dairy farm to a macadamia farm makes for an amazing story. Charlie speaks with Martin and Will Brook to understand the journey they undertook, bringing the rainforest back and supporting the natural environment to improve their farming business. Martin and Will provide a great example of how supporting native plants thrive, but also help green your garden. On today’s episode:How Brookfarm transformed their previously degraded landHow anyone can regenerate their land with the right knowledgeThe many benefits of supporting the natural habitatHow supporting the natural environment supports pest managementAnd just what makes the Brookfarm muesli so delicious?!Today’s guest: Martin and Pam Brook began their family's journey to the country by purchasing Brookfarm in 1989. Back then, it was a rundown dairy farm. Working with the local environment, they began to transform the property, embracing the small pocket of rainforest that remained and supporting it to rejuvenate. Planting macadamia trees, a natural rainforest plant, transformed the farm's practices. With a focus on working with the environment to support the health of everything, Brookfarm is a leading sustainability led business. With son Will Brook now managing the business, the Brook family continue to see the farm’s business evolve and support the rainforest surrounding it. We’d love to hear from you, please email any questions you have about your garden to: [email protected] to learn how you can promote biodiversity in your garden?
