GSMC Baseball Podcast Episode 577: New CBA Discussions, ROY Best Bets

Kevin starts the episode by talking about the report that MLB and the MLBPA recently had face to face discussions on the beginnings of a new CBA. The big news to come out of the meeting is MLB offering to lower the Luxury Tax as well as raise the penalties, for exceeding the limits. MLB also offered to implement a Salary Floor, or minimum a team needs to spend on its roster. This is a robin hood style suggestion of taking from the rich to give to the poor. This is not going to go over well with the MLBPA. Kevin then discusses the latest news and notes happening around the league this week. He talks about everything from Shohei Ohtani, to Freddie Freeman, to Jake Arrieta, to Cole Hamels, and more! Kevin wraps up the show giving out his best bets to win the Rookie of the Year award in each league. In the National League, it is currently a runaway with Jonathan India the favorite to take home the award. In the American League, it is still wide open with a number of individuals still in the race with 6 weeks remaining.
