元禄元年（１６８８年）八代城主三代松井直之公が御茶屋として建立。当初は八代海を見渡す浜辺に位置し、松風も聞かれた事から邸名の由来としている。現在は干拓で海からは遠く、欅（ケヤキ）や楠の老樹が淀んだ池水に昔の面影を映している。杜若（カキツバタ）、肥後菖蒲等四季折々の花が名園を彩る。
