剣聖・宮本武蔵は生涯を行雲流水の求道の旅で終わり、３０歳の前半を諸国の兵法者と戦い、５１歳に至る約２０年は史実的に全く空白で、東西に剣客の旅を続け、寛永１７年に肥後の細川忠利侯に招かれ、細川藩軍事顧問として肥後千葉城に居住し、忠利侯の命を受け「兵法３５箇条」を献上しました。
